The Western States Hockey League is disappointed to announce the dormancy of the Northwest Division.

The dormancy decision does not effect the Provincial Division.
More information will be available once the Board of Governors have met to discuss the matter.
The WSHL‘s Northwest division has decided to enter dormancy for the 2021-22 season. Just after one of five teams, the Utah Altitude, decided to cease operations. We knew they were struggling and we have been wondering all this time, why are they continuing with the charades and acting as if all is good. Teams in the WSHL had only months to put together a full roster, some say that’s an impossible job in Junior Hockey, and it is no surprise that all teams were having issues with not only placing a quality product on the ice, but getting players to throw on the jersey. Some teams only having 3 skaters. It was a matter of time before they needed to make this decision, some believe that maybe they should have just never attempted to have this season with odds so heavily stacked against them. This hopefully did not ruin any kids careers or push them away from understanding what junior hockey is and should be. We hope that each and every player can find a good home and most importantly we hope that all players are able to get a full refund of the tuition they have paid. We have heard some kids are paying upwards of 9k, let’s hope they get what is owed to them.
We will continue to follow this story until each and every player in the WSHL is satisfied and playing where they want to play.
