WSHL Already Cancelling Games For Opening Weekend?

It appears as though the WSHL is cancelling games ahead of this weekends supposed “Season Opener” for the Northwest Division. After the league went dormant during the 2020-21 season, they decided to come back for the 2021-22 season despite losing a majority of there teams to the USPHL and NA3HL

We have been covering this storyline since the league announcement of their infamous return and how we are seeing very low roster numbers across all 5 teams in the Northwest Division. Some teams allegedly having under 5 players signed. Can’t play hockey with those kind of numbers.

To get back on track, it seems as though the WSHL has two schedules, one being on the main website – WSHL.org and the other residing on the WSHLStats.com website. The main schedule still shows these games, as you can see by the below screenshot.

However, if you look at the WSHLStats.com website, you can see these two games between the Blazers and Totems have mysteriously disappeared.

Further confirming our suspicion was the fact that Blackdog Hockey – the streaming platform for all WSHL games is also showing that there are no games this weekend between the Blazers and Totems.

We have been saying for a long time, on our weekly podcast TJHP, that we are not seeing it being even remotely possible that the WSHL Northwest Division can play and the biggest reason being that these teams just can’t fill a roster.

The only thing I have been hoping for is that the league will announce cancellation, instead of giving these players false hopes for a season getting underway. There has still not been a formal announcement from the league or organizations, and we are just 2 days away from what was suppose to be the first puck drop of the 2021-22 season. Time will tell just how disastrous this all ends up being.

As always, we hope the WSHL can get it figured out and dialed in so that these players can have a successful season of development so they can continue to climb the hockey ladder. But, we will see.
