Trimble’s Drill of the Week- 5 Pass Middle Drive Warmup
4 Lines at each of the Neutral Zone Face Off Dots (Pucks in Each Line)
- On the Whistle Opposite/ Diagonal Lines will go. Player leaves without a puck
- Player will get a pass from the line they are facing and quickly give it back.
- Skating atop the center ice face off circle, the player (without a puck cause its given it back to the line it was facing) will now receive another pass from the line on the same side they started.
- After bumping it back to the line, they will turn and open up for an outlet pass as the recieving line collects the pass given back and heads up ice.
- Crossing the red line, line with puck will kick it out to the outside player (who started the drill) and keep skating as the middle drive player.
- Player with puck will carry into the offensive zone and then bring a shot to the net in a simple 2-0 scenario.
- Practice good habits. Use the 2-0 situation as a warmup for the goalies and as a game-like zone entry play. Middle drive should keep skating with their stick on the ice and stop on the net.
- Shooter should take a long shot that warms up the goalie and potentially creates a rebound scenario.
