Trimble’s Drill of the Week- Power Skating Ideas, Patterns and Concepts
Here is a video from a recent Power Skating practice I did with one of our Junior teams in New Hampshire.
- First 2 clips are variations around the nets- One side of the net is skating forwards and the other side is backwards
- Skills include- Edges, Crossovers, Knee Touches and much more
- 3rd and 4th clips are patterns around the circle. After completing the pattern the 2nd person in line throws out a loose puck and players will pick it up and skate through a slalom series in the neutral zone before finishing with a shot on net.
- Skills/ patterns include- C- Cut to Mowhawk, crossover to crossunder, Backwards to mowhawk and much more
- 5th clip is a race to finish the session. Full ice- get your head up and race for the loose puck
