The Stanley Cup Playoffs
What a time! I always feel bad about sharing my thoughts on the play in the NHL, because as a tier 3 grocery stick I haven’t even been close to a look as far as playing in such a prestigious league; But I do pride myself on my gut. This piece is going to be short and sweet because my gut tells me so again. My belly has always treated me well no matter what level I was playing at, especially at the junior level and I believe it will continue to trend in the same direction because superstition is everything in my opinion.
The Dallas Stars are Mean!
So enough about my stomach, let’s talk about the Western conference finals. The Vegas Golden Knights are up against the somewhat pesky Dallas Stars. The Knights had a favorable chance to make it to the Cup finals again this year. But let’s keep the subject on Dallas; I bet on these guys in Tunica, Mississippi at the sports book slot there a little over a year ago. The bet was for these guys to make it to the cup finals. Plain and simple the Stars have just been finding ways to win solely because they are one word; MEAN.
Vegas Golden Knights vs. Dallas Stars
Vegas has a stellar group, along with every team in the National league, don’t get me wrong; but there is something about Dallas. Granted; the main guys Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin aren’t producing at the level they should, but holy buckets, everyone else is pitching in. Goaltending from the unlikely Anton Khudobin and offensively on the back end everyone’s looking at Miro “The Hero” Heiskanen, don’t forget about Pavelski and most certainly, Radulov (A.K.A. BEASTulov) who is absolutely levitating off the “Russian gas” as the fellas like to say on Spittin Chiclets’. Dennis Guiranov (MY GUY, who might also be on the gas) is a madman that lets his tenacity speak for himself and let’s not forget the psycho coming out of the rafters Joel Kiviranta.
If I could travel back in time and tell my past self that, “a regular scratch will be placed in the lineup last minute and score a hat trick against Colorado in game 7 to make it to the conference finals” I would have slammed that bet with more money when I was in Tunica. But again, I never had a doubt they would come this far because I trust my stomach.
Just looking at the facts, the Stars made it to the conference finals last year, yet they were somewhat were counted out this year. They had a coaching change (Wait…. did the champions in St. Louis last year have a coach change?).
Rick Bowness is keeping this group in check! He has them firing on all cylinders without changing from the original coaching plan. Remember they also had the callout from their owner during the regular season regarding the offensive production directed towards the big two I mentioned.
I’m not saying they’re going to win the cup, but they have a heck of an opportunity. This is big for hockey in Texas, no pun intended. Texas is no stranger to the sport because some MEAN players come out of Texas. This article was bias, cowards will hate, go Stars.
