The reigning Clark Cup Champions found themselves in an odd predicament this condensed USHL season. The majority of their top players moved on to the next level or were moved throughout the season. Several players have ties to the Stampede but did not finish the season with the Stampede so did not qualify for this list.
Jakub Lewandowski – Right Wing
The right-winger from Poland is the second Polish-born player to play in the USHL, second only to Rob Gubala who played two games. Jakub’s size will transition nicely to the next level, wherever that may be. Although he’s ranked as a “C” skater, his leadership, work ethic, and size are what scouts are most excited about. While he didn’t light up the scoreboard (11 goals, 9 assists), it was his off-puck movement that helped open the ice for his teammates to create scoring opportunities.
Sam Stange – Right Wing
Sam started the season with the Sioux City Musketeers but finished the final four games of the condensed season with the Stampede. He recorded 26 goals added with 19 assists on the season which has helped his NHL Draft rankings. McKeen’s Hockey ranked him at 216 while the NHL Central Scouting Report for North American Skaters had him at 110. Although the future of where and when he will be drafted is unclear, the 6′ 210lb Wisconsin commit has potential that NHL teams can’t wait to get a hold of.
The Stampede was making a late-season push after their slow start to the season. As the season winded down, they sat in the sixth spot of the Western Conference on the cusp of the fifth spot.
