Green Bay Gamblers and the NHL Draft
While we should be in the middle of the NHL playoffs, the only thing we can speculate now is the upcoming NHL Draft. For some USHL players, their dream of playing in the NHL grows more and more realistic every day, especially when talking about the Gamblers.
The Gamblers, of the USHL, have three players who are projected to be taken within the first six rounds of the NHL Draft.
Dylan Moulton – Defenseman
The left-handed defenseman from Nolensville, TN was a rock on the Gamblers roster this past season. Two of his five goals were game-winners and he had a +/- of +6, good enough for third-best on the defensive side. He’s committed to the University of Miami of Ohio and is ranked as a ‘C’ skater which means he will most likely be taken in rounds four, five, or six.
Jackson Kunz – Left Wing
Although he only played five games for the Gamblers in a shortened season, Jackson had a stellar season with Shattock St. Mary’s Midget Prep. He recorded 69 points with them before coming to the Gamblers where he recorded one in five games. Next season, Jackson will play for the University of North Dakota who will provide him with a great platform to continue developing into a more well-rounded prospect. He’s ranked #94 by NHL Central Scouting and is ranked as a ‘C’ skater. He’s projected to be taken in the fourth round.
Mason Lohrei – Defenseman
The 6’5″, 195 lb. defenseman led the Gamblers in nearly all defensive categories last season. He scored eight goals, recorded 29 assists, and had .77 points per game. In addition, he also had a +/- of +5, had 14 power-play assists, and one game-winner. Ranked #132 by the Central Scouting Report, Mason will be a late-round steal for one NHL team.
