Brayden Baxter (.822) 2004 – Juneau, AK, USA: Baxter is in his first year of junior hockey after playing presumably playing high school hockey with Juneau-Douglas High last year. It’s great he starts off this list as he has the Pigeonhole Hockey Podcast junior hockey save of the year to date – and be sure to look out for more of his October saves in November at @PHHOffical on Twitter. He’s stopped 157 of 191 shots this season.
Andrew Brabender (.856) 2003 – Edmonton, AB, CAN: Brabender joined the Blazers this year after playing in the VIJHL last year with the Saanich Predators, putting up an .860 in 22 games played. He plays with a bit of an edge, something us goaltenders on the Pigeonhole Hockey Podcast love to see, as he’s already had multiple saves featured on Twitter @PHHOfficial already this season and will have several more featured in November. He’s stopped 172 of 201 shots this season.
Kai Rivas (.909) – 2005 – Surrey, BC, CAN: The youngest qualified goaltender on the roster, Rivas appears to be competing in his first year of junior hockey competition. He’s played excellent so far and posted a 42-save shutout, allowing the Blazers to earn their first victory in USPHL play. He’ll have at least one save featured on the @PHHOffical Twitter page in November. He’s stopped 261 of 287 shots this season.
ROCK SPRINGS PROSPECTORS
Brody Hsiao (.890) 2002 – Vancouver, BC, CAN: Last season Hsiao not only played for the CAJHL’s Cold Lake Aeros putting up a .918 SV% in 14 games, but also has international experience representing Chinese Taipei U20 at the WJC’s with a .860 SV% in 5 games. He’s stopped 138 of 155 shots this season.
Maximilian Lednicky (.918) 2004 – Martin, SVK: Lednicky is playing in his first season of North American junior hockey after splitting time in Slovakia between MHC Martin U18 and MHC Martin U20 last season in 34 games, posting a .891 and .880 respectively. He’s stopped 112 of 122 shots this season.
Nathan Proulx (.937) – 2003 – Quesnel, BC, CAN: Proulx enters his second season of junior hockey after playing last season with the CAJHL’s Cold Lake Aeros and posting an .881 SV%, and has seen the most action of the well distributed blue paint time for Prospectors this season, stopping 133 of 142 shots this season.
Maximilian Vassay (.931) – 2002 – Kosice, SVK: Vassay is playing in his second season of North American junior hockey after splitting time last season between the Slovakia U20 2 and the Canada-based GMHL last season. He’ll have at least one save featured on @PHHOffical Twitter page in November! He’s stopped 67 of 72 shots this season.
ROGUE VALLEY ROYALS
Kaeden Edstrom (.878) 2004 – Fairplay, CO, USA: Edstrom arrived in Medford after having played last season with the Indy Jr. Fuel 18U AAA of the NAPHL 18U where he posted a .901 SV% in 10 games played. He’ll have saves featured on the @PHHOffical Twitter page in November. He’s stopped 194 of 221 shots this season.
Alex Frink (.773) 2003 – Michigan, USA: Frink comes out of the Lansing Spartans 16U A program and has only got a single period of action so far, so we haven’t seen a lot from him yet. He’s stopped 17 of 22 shots this season.
Bryson Snow (.860) – 2006 – California, USA: Snow is the youngest goaltender on the team and is a Golden State Eagles alum that has impressed so far in his junior hockey career. He’ll be featured on the @PHHOffical Twitter page in November more than once, so be ready! He’s stopped 92 of 107 shots this season.
Emile Taillefer-Anctil (.868) – 2004 – Laval, QC, CAN: E.T.A. comes to Medford from the Canadian NPU Rebels U16 program. He’ll have at least one save featured on the @PHHOffical Twitter page in November. He’ll have at least one save featured on @PHHOffical Twitter page in November as he’s stopped 164 of 189 shots so far this season.
SEATTLE TOTEMS
Daniel Cleofe (.904) 2002 – Seattle, WA, USA: Junior hockey in Seattle has been hurt by the pandemic but as a local product, Cleofe has stuck it out and has had a pretty good season so far. He’s stopped 170 of 188 shots in this short season with plenty more on the way.
Felix Flodman (.914) 2004 – Sweden: Flodman is in his first season of North American junior hockey, having previously played with Sweden’s Hovås HC. Since arriving in Seattle he has seen most of the action so far for the Totems and has played strong in net. He has stopped 275 of 301 shots so far this season.
VERNAL OILERS
Austin Gilbert (.943) 2003 – Dover, NH, USA: Gilbert is no stranger to the USPHL, having spent the last two seasons at the Elite level with the Islanders Hockey Club and has had a good showing so far at the Premier level. He’s stopped 66 of 70 shots faced this season.
Jayden Pasillas (1.000) 2002 – Fairbanks, AK, USA: Pasillas is no stranger to junior hockey, now in his forth season, having previously played with the Fresno Monsters between the WSHL and USPHL, and last season joining the Oilers. He hasn’t seen a lot of action this season, but has stopped all shots faced so far when called upon.
Jayden Schirmers (.898) – 2002 – Trenton, ON, CAN: Schirmers has played a few years of junior hockey between Germany and Canada, most recently with the Barrhead Bombers of the CAJHL. He’ll have at least one save featured on the @PHHOffical Twitter page in November. He has only seen one period this season so far, stopping 44 of 49 shots faced.
Antonio Tarantino (.949) – 2002 – Fremont, CA, USA: Arguably one of the best goaltenders in the Northwest — if not the league — so far this season, Tarantino has been on a tear. His multiple years of junior hockey experience is noticeable and he’ll have multiple saves featured on the @PHHOffical Twitter page in November. Generally speaking, his saves tend not to be spectacular as he is tracking incredibly well and is almost always in position, stopping 186 of 196 shots faced so far in this young season.
