The Lone Star Brahmas, of the North American Hockey League, had a scary moment last night in Shreveport when their bus became an innocent bystander in a fatal motor vehicle accident.
According to The Shreveport Times, the Brahmas fully loaded bus had just left George’s Pond Hirsch Coliseum in Shreveport, after their 5-2 defeat at the hands of the Shreveport Mudbugs, when it was struck from behind.
The Times report indicates a Chevrolet Camaro smashed into the back of a Ford SUV which in turn struck the Brahmas’ bus. The driver of the Camaro was detained at the scene and later charged with vehicular homicide and operating a vehicle while intoxicated. A passenger in the SUV was deceased at the scene of the accident.
Three Brahmas players who were standing in the back of the bus at the time of the accident were allegedly hurt but no players were transported to the hospital.
The Brahmas and Mudbugs finish their two-game series this evening in the same arena.
