The Boston Imperials Hockey Academy at Matignon High School
was announced yesterday, with plans for a full complement of midget teams at 15U, 16U, and 18U starting next season.
This academy is a partnership between the Boston Imperials Hockey Club and Matignon High School and it appears the plans are to build teams by using a blend of Boston-area players and nationally recruited players.
Nate Bostic, currently the general manager of the Islanders Hockey Club Premier Division Junior team, has been named the Academy’s director.
“Putting our Academy at Matignon High School made total sense,”
Bostic was quoted in a joint press release put out by the school and the hockey club.
“They have such a rich history of hockey in Massachusetts. Marty Pierce, Shawn McEachern, Jerry Keefe, and many others. We wanted to add to the Matignon hockey tradition and continue the pride the students, staff, faculty, and alumni have in the school. As a former Massachusetts High School hockey player, this is combining the best aspects of prep and club hockey within an elite academic environment and school community.”

Tough times have hit the program recently and this past November it was announced Matignon would not be fielding a team, rather forming a co-op with Revere and Malden high schools.
Bostic is the second of three Junior coaches and program directors to depart the Islanders Hockey Club in the past two years. After the 2018-19 season, longtime Junior coach and general manager Sean Tremblay separated from the IHC.
