Trimble’s Drill of the Week- Puck Battles
At least 3 times a week with my Junior team I carve out 2 minutes and we partner up and compete for the puck in small areas. This is a great way to add some resistance and puck battles or 1 on 1 battles to your practices and can really build up a fundamental skill over the course of the season.
Stress using your body to gain possession of the puck, stick on stick and much more. Go 2 to 3 rounds with a 15- 20 second battle followed by a 10 second reset break. Make this a part of your culture and practices and watch as they get better at win puck battles over the course of the season.
