Trimble’s Drill of the Week – Tire Game
Game is great at 3 on 3 but can also be done 2v2 or 4v4. Purpose of the game is to develop Movement away from the puck. Finding space and getting open.
- Two lines divide each team out of the zone, with 3 sets of tires inside the zone (No Goalies)
- Whistle and loose puck to start as the teams compete to win possession of the puck.
- Team with the puck has to have players without the puck move and get open, as the only way to score points is to connect on passes between the tires.
- If you lose possession of the puck, your team will be on defense, and have to cover players (man on man) in order to win possession of the puck back.
- Rule 1- you can not immediately pass to the same team in the same set of tires.
- Rule 2- Sprint out of the zone when the whistle blows and a new group comes on.
- Great game for developing defensive awareness, spatial awareness, passing and communication skills and much more.
- Make it accountable and play to a certain number.
