Trimble’s Drill Of The Week – 2-0 Regroup/ Rush Drill

2-0 Regroup / Rush Drill

Forwards and Defenseman start in opposite corners at each end of the ice. Whistle blows all 4 lines go

  • Forwards pass the puck back to the second player in line, and circle to the net- theyll get a pass for a quick chance in the slot, then continue to move their feet in support of defenseman towards his side of the zone.
  • Defenseman carry their puck (skating forwards, then backwards ) around the circle opposite the forwards. Once the forward has shot his puck, the D will pass to the forward breaking the puck out of the zone. (same occurs at opposite end of the ice).
  • Once in the nuetral zone, opposite forwards will pass to the opposite defenseman regrouping the puck.
  • Defenseman will collect the pass, allow the forwards to open up, and then return the pass- initiating the 2-0 rush at the far end of the ice.
  • Practice flat passes, setting good targets, communication and good 2-0 entry habits!
