In case you missed it, Andrew Trimble and I both recently joined THF as partners and we both couldn’t be more thrilled!
To get you caught up to speed (and for me to make sure I’m not starting early onset dementia), I worked with THF previously when we were originally known as TJHP. After parting ways, mainly due to a bunch of different things going on in my life, I took a bit of a break from doing anything creative with hockey. When it’s your main job already, sometimes you need a reset or pause.
After a bit of time, I reached out to someone one day via Instagram talking about what they do within hockey and we ended up doing a few episodes of a now-defunct hockey podcast. After that nightmare, I had plenty of time due to COVID going on so I ended up going and creating my own hockey website for articles and such. I probably should have waited a couple of weeks to save myself some money as I ended up getting rid of that in place of my own Substack newsletter which was doing quite well. After a while, I joined forces with Coach Trimble on our very own podcast, “The Hockey Toolkit” (give it a listen), and the opportunity to come back and be more involved with The Hockey Focus was presented. And, now here I am. Maybe a little older, but nonetheless wiser… or at least I hope.
So what should you expect from me specifically moving forward?
I’m still going to continue to write, albeit it will be here on the main site and no longer on Substacks. I will continue to try and impart my poor attempt at humor within the articles I write. But mainly, I will try my best to continue to educate the general public with information about the hockey world with coaching insights, stories and even suggestions as becoming a better coach is and will always be a passion of mine. I plan to share stories of my previous life as a Youth Hockey Director (I still plan to write that book someday) and whatever verbal diarrhea my brain will want to paint onto this beautiful blank Word document as a canvas.
But the most important part to me about joining THF as a full-time member is to have fun with the guys and share this passion of mine of writing about the greatest sport in the world.
I hope to continue to try and provide you, the reader, with insightful information, funny stories, or any other forms of entertainment I can offer The Hockey Focus.
